Just sent my first patch in a FOSS project
Ok! Got it done!
Just a few minutes ago I sent my first patch for my soc project. Its also my first ever patch in a FOSS project. :)
Though I couldn't put much time in the last few days, its been good. oggdec now is parsing a vorbis+skeleton+cmml without any problem. The cool thing is all the modification is done in vorbisfile, no modification whatsoever in oggdec.
The first patch is a very pressure situation I guess. Don't know at all what the response gonna be. Somebody may say "Hey! you're not suppose to do that" or maybe "its a horrible style of coding you have" or "where are the comments, how can anybody understand this". But the main thing I fear is making some silly mistake when I'm busy worrying about the big staffs.
All these reminds me of my first few patches in my workplace. Back then it was also my first experience with a SCM and then it was GNU Arch :(. Can you believe SVN now feels a bit tough :).
One thing you may have misunderstood, I didn't commit my patch or something like that. Just sent it to my project's devel mailing list.
and where would I be without my mentors and all the helpers in freenode ...
